The Act caused schools such as Clemson to drop some of there athletic programs to equalize the amount of male scholarships and female scholarships. The incoming classes must be affected by this change, primarily those interested in playing sports that are no longer offered at the particular university. Some of the questions that come to mind when looking at this topic are; How does this change affect the incoming classes at major universities? Is the change really beneficial to women? How does this affect scholarships with major universities? I feel that this act in no major way helps the female gender become more equalized at major universities and is merely hurting athletic programs.

Research Paper
Title IX is a part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 originally intended to eliminate all discrimination based on one's sex. Title IX states that "No person in the united states shall, on the bases of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal assistance..." - United States Code Section 20. However, when the title was applied to colleges and specifically their sports programs at many of the primarily male dominated sports were cut because there was not an equal number of primarily female dominated sports. Or in other words not the same amount of scholarships for males and females because there were more male dominated sports than female.
